Rubbish Art School
Reuse, recycle and rebel! These special drop-off sessions during half-term encourage kids to spend all day making amazing art out of unwanted materials. Turning junk into masterpieces.
9am–3pm
Tuesday 27 & Wednesday 28 October
Ages 5-12
One day: £60 / Two days: £100.
At our studio space in Sydenham.
Full-day experimental art + making using discarded materials.
Artists have always found ways to make art with whatever is around them. Van Gogh painted on cardboard and tea towels. Picasso turned a rusty bike into a sculpture. Louise Nevelson made sculptures from wood collected off the streets. El Anatsui creates works from thousands of discarded bottle caps.
Rubbish Art School is about looking at everyday stuff differently. Delivery boxes, packaging, scraps, broken things and odd bits become the starting point for new ideas.
Each day combines drawing, creative challenges, experimentation and hands-on making. Sketch, test ideas, build, change things and see where they take you.
No templates. No matching finished pieces. Just lots of stuff to play with and see what you can make.
Plus, each child gets a recycled one-of-a-kind Rubbish Art School sketchbook to use on the day and take home.
